As a Dundee homeowner and local attorney, Brian Fahey has a deep and abiding love for his native Omaha. Growing up in the Field Club neighborhood, Brian learned to treasure midtown Omaha’s community of tight-knit neighborhoods. He is running for Douglas County Commissioner to preserve and grow that same quality of life for his two daughters and all the residents of District 5.
Brian graduated from Central High School, where he met his wife, Sara. He attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in music and political science. After college, he worked as both a nonprofit manager and church choir director. He earned his law degree with high distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law and is in private practice in Omaha.
Brian’s legal practice ranges from advising Omaha businesses of all sizes to fighting for injured plaintiffs in court. Representing everyone from large businesses to indigent individuals allows Brian to understand the critical importance of ensuring quality government services for everyone and the need to operate all branches of government efficiently.
In the community, he serves on the boards of multiple nonprofit organizations and sings in several community choirs. His wife Sara is a music teacher at Central High School, and they are the proud parents of two daughters.
Campaigns cost money. Whether it's sending mail to voters, buying yard signs, or reaching out on social media, every dollar makes a difference!
Brian is running for County Commissioner because he knows our quality of life depends on the services Douglas County provides. From public health to public safety, the County Board has to protect and administer county services in a reliable and cost-effective manner. As a lawyer for low-income individuals, Brian knows that everyone deserves to have someone fighting for them. Brian’s family has relied on the county’s services, that’s why he knows how important they are for many Douglas County residents. He is ready to continue this same advocacy on the County Board.
“As an attorney advising Omaha businesses, I know what it takes to deliver vital services by improving cost efficiency and managing budgets. As Commissioner, I’ll work to fund our county services and support mental health access, while keeping costs low. Above all, I believe in public service and serving as an open, honest, and accountable Commissioner for all of District 5.”
Fight to protect and ensure quality services for all of Douglas County. On the Board, I will protect healthcare and mental health access, fund public safety, and improve our roads and bridges.
Be open, honest, and accountable to you, the residents of District 5. Being a public servant means always remembering you work for the voters. I promise to be available to you and promote honesty and transparency on the Board.
Promote affordability and responsible budgeting. As an attorney, I have advised Omaha businesses of all sizes on budgeting effectively and operating efficiently. We have to work harder to keep taxes in check to protect the services we rely on and keep Douglas County affordable.
